Gartang Gali Trek Complete Guide
The Gartang Gali Trek near Harsil Valley in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand is one of the most unique short Himalayan treks, famous for its historic wooden bridge built along a steep mountain cliff that was once part of an ancient Indo-Tibetan trade route. Located around 25 km from Harsil and close to Gangotri, this easy-to-moderate trek covers roughly 5–6 km round trip and can usually be completed in a few hours, making it ideal for beginners, nature lovers, and photographers. The best time to visit is from April to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant and mountain views are clear. Permits may be required due to the border proximity, and many travelers combine this trek with a peaceful stay in Harsil Valley, known for its scenic landscapes, apple orchards, and serene Himalayan atmosphere.
