LOVE AND YOU

Until yesterday, they were simply one among you, people with dreams, talents, friendships, struggles, and ordinary lives. Today, I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to bring together a wonderful group of such artists and lead them into the magical world of cinema through our soon-to-be-released film, LOVE & U Before I speak about the film, let me take you to a beautiful thought. Fr. Abel, the legendary founder of Kalabhavan, gave us a deeply meaningful song about a man’s search for God. The man travels far and wide in search of the Divine. He walks into temples. He enters churches. He visits sacred places and every shrine created by human hands. He searches everywhere. Yet, wherever he goes, the God he seeks seems to remain beyond his reach. And finally, after travelling so far, searching so deeply and wandering for so long, he discovers a beautiful truth: The God he had been searching for was never far away. He was within his own heart. You may now wonder— What does this have to do with our film, LOVE & U? Perhaps, everything. If LOVE & U finds a place in people’s hearts and becomes a people’s film, I believe it has the potential to leave behind something more precious than entertainment—a simple lesson about life and love. Look closely at people who have achieved something meaningful in life. Most of them had a destination, a dream, a goal. They travelled towards it with determination, made sacrifices, faced disappointments, and crossed countless obstacles. And naturally, we imagine that the greater the dream, the farther we must travel to find the key to it. But what if we are wrong? What if some of life’s greatest treasures are not waiting at the end of a distant journey? What if the key we have been searching for is already lying quietly beside us? Sometimes we travel across oceans searching for a pearl, while a diamond rests unnoticed beside our feet. Sometimes we chase a firefly glittering in the distance, mistaking its momentary glow for a precious gem— while the real jewel has been beside us all along. That journey is LOVE & U. It is the story of searching far away for something that was always very near. When the final scene fades and the audience walks out of the theatre, I hope they carry one thought home with them: “Have I recognised the precious people already beside me?” Perhaps the treasure you have been searching for all your life is your mother—whose love never demanded anything in return. Perhaps it is your father—whose silent sacrifices you understood only much later. Perhaps it is your wife, who stood beside you while you were busy searching for happiness elsewhere. Perhaps it is your husband, whose quiet presence became so familiar that you forgot how precious it was. Or perhaps it is that friend with whom you can share even the secrets of your heart—the person before whom you never need to pretend. We often search the world for love, happiness and belonging. Yet sometimes, they are sitting beside us at the dinner table, waiting for us at home, walking silently beside us, or living quietly within our hearts. We search the horizon for a star, while love is lighting a lamp beside us. Maybe the greatest journey in life is not travelling farther. Maybe it is learning to see what is already near. And perhaps the greatest tragedy is not losing love— but recognising its value only after it has gone. That is the heartbeat of LOVE & U. A journey from illusion to realization. From searching to discovering. From distance to closeness. From looking everywhere… to finally looking beside you.
