Lord Surya has it that about one hundred and ninety-seven crore years ago, on this Magha Sukla Saptami, the sun rose in a single chakra. The chariot on which he ascended is called the wheel of time. Hence the name Rathsaptami for today. Doing certain things like Pujas and Homas on such a holy day not only promotes health but also provides relief from chronic diseases.
